All Aboard! Through history to the Underground Railroad in Wisconsin.

Welcome to History Alive! Wisconsin’s Underground Railroad history website.

Teachers will find resources from picture books to primary source documents. Project and unit study suggestions are included to explore underground railroad history for a little as an afternoon or as long as two weeks. Resources and links connect you with quality materials and information. A click will lead you to quotes from the past, true personal stories of flight and freedom, and questions to stimulate thought and conversation in your classroom.

Students will enjoy a mini-field trip back into underground railroad history. Listen to a song from slavery times. Enjoy a true Wisconsin story filmed at the landmark Milton House, a real underground railroad station. Join Tony Cohen as he retraces an escape to Canada.
A click will open any one of ten "windows" into the past. Each window contains a quote from underground railroad history, a short, true story of a real person, and a question to think and talk about.
